Love is in the Air

love is in the air, hot air balloon, hearts

Entry for Outlawz No stamp challenge. Created using Tattered Lace Love is in the Air as theme is Love is in the Air so thought of this die straight away. Heart behind is from X cut folk bird hearts die and embossed with Gemini Hearts emboss folder that came with my Gemini die cutting and Embossing machine, mounted on blue paper and a white card.

I couldn't decided what colours to use, so went for my own wedding colours in the end. Would look very striking in black and red and shades of pink too. Great for wedding, anniversary, valentines.

Available to buy, message me jane@craftyjanes.co.uk

May Makes

I have done quite a few easier makes this month as I have been worn out and just wanted something quick and easy to do, it also means I now have a bit of a selection of cards and don't need to madly make one when I need one.  I did also make some special cards, but have not shown them as they are for later dates, so will appear once they have been given.

Made with Dee Craft card and assorted papers, one of them is printed with the recipients name, but is not very clear.  Printed using Craftville backing paper maker.

Heart die cut with a large heart die (can't remember brand), backing paper printed with Craftville backing paper maker, letters and numbers stitched using Stitching card lettering font 370.  15th wedding anniversary is the Crystal anniversary.

Last weekend we visited Pink Frog craft shop in Chesterfield.  They have some great dies and Rob's mum bought me some for my birthday.  They had a huge display of cards, but they were very intricate and fussy, I wouldn't have the time and energy to make ones like that.  I find it a bit depressing as it makes me think my cards are not good enough.

Emily helped me to photograph these cards and has joined in a bit with making them.  She thinks I should sell them.  I used to do that with my website Craftyjanes, but stopped when Emily was born.  people are not really interested in the basic ones, but I did get quite a few orders for personalised ones.  There is too much competition now and I don't think mine would sell, so at the moment they are just for personal use and my Mum had some of them.

A few creations.......

I feel like I haven't been doing much with it being school holidays and having Emily off sick, being ill myself and helping my Mum who has broken her ankle, but here is a round up of the latest things I have managed to make.

I was hoping to update the gallery page but can't work out how to add pictures, I thought it was simple, but of course it is not.

Birthday card made for my husband using pattern a421 from Ann's Paper Art.  There were 2 different ways to stitch the pattern, I was half way through before I realised I had done something different again!!

Valentine's card made for my husband using pattern a323 from Ann's Paper Art

Birthday card for a friend, using butterfly embossing plate from Craft Concepts

A coaster made using a pattern from I Can Quilt

I also made a card for a friends with an origami cat, but have lost the picture, but it worked very well so I am sure I will be making another.  Lots more birthdays and events coming up.

Emily has been creating too

She found a bird shape in the drawer and cut off its beak and used a peg, quite inspired I thought.  It was meant to be for Mother's Day, but then she discovered it didn't fit in the envelope so gave it to me!

Other creations that we have had the pleasure of are these cakes from Cakes for Breaks, thank you Catherine they were great, sadly I don't get to taste them as not gluten free, but always get good feedback from the eaters!

A Rob and Emily share cake for a family meal to celebrate their birthdays

Frozen cupcakes for Emily's birthday tea

Birthday cake for Emily's bowling party

Finally I have just had a beautiful delivery of flowers from my Mum made up by Flower Power a local florist.  Complete with vase so no messing about.

Crafty Buys and presents

It was my birthday on Monday, I was not able to do much or felt like doing much, but did go out for lunch with Rob as it was our wedding anniversary too.

I got some money for my birthday and have now well and truly spent it on more craft items, I don't need more, but the temptation was too great and it might cheer me up a bit!!

So here is what I have bought;

Paper Trimmer as the one I have only cuts straight and I like the pattern edges.

Medallion Die Cutter because I like the shape

Embossing scene because I like the image and I have a stitching pattern windmill too

Butterfly corner embossing they work well to add stitched piece to

Heart Embossing die because I like it

flower corner embossing folder it should work well with stitching too.

Non Stick Scissors because every pair of scissors I can find seems to be sticky!!

I have not got any of these yet as all bought online, so I can now expect lots of goodies in the post and hopefully find time to play when they arrived and of course find somewhere to keep them!!!  So much for having a clear out!

I did get a few crafty presents too

Owl Embossing folder

and another

Once things have settled down we are hoping to go out for a birthday meal at 2 Oxford Place a totally gluten free restaurant in Leeds.  We would have gone for lunch on Monday, but they do not open on Mondays.  Will be great to be able to have what I fancy rather than what I can have. I contacted them about a children's menu and got a quick and helpful reply saying they don't have a children's menu but can do plain sandwiches, or small portions half price or GF fish fingers.  Emily loves fish fingers so not a problem there :-)
